Missionary on the Gridiron

Missionary on the Gridiron

Life on mission looks different for everyone. What matters is following Jesus to where he leads and calls. For Jeremy Poundstone, our Connections Director, the call to serve has not only taken him to The Chapel, but also to the football field next door.

This fall, Jeremy was tapped to be the chaplain for The University of Akron football team. He leads devotional times with the athletes, cheers on the sidelines at home and away games, attends team dinners and spearheads off-season groups that emphasize spiritual growth, carrying one another's burdens, and serving those in need.

Jeremy gets to live the love of Jesus and speak truth right into the hearts of these young athletes. With more than 15 years of experience coaching youth and high school sports, he is in the perfect place to minister. Jeremy said that, as the chaplain, he’s “in the business of making disciples, building Christ's church and advancing God's Kingdom. If there is ever a time to invest in young men, that time is now!” Whenever football crosses your mind, pray for these college athletes and for Jeremy and his ministry on the gridiron.
