Outreach Prayer Guide

Pray with us for our Outreach Ministries, second Sunday, after 2nd service, 12:10-1pm, Room 158.

All those who believe and trust in Jesus have been sent by God to be ambassadors for God’s Kingdom (John 20:21 & 2 Corinthians 5:20). Some of us are simply sent further to different countries of the world and need supporters to help fulfill the call from God to be a minister of the Gospel of Christ into the world. Please join us in supporting our Local and Global Outreach ministries and missionaries through prayer.

Stephen and Carolyn Crockett— Serving in Asia Pacific

Pray for the church leadership in Moi, that they will stand strong and lead the church well.

Pray for safety in travels back to the US and Canada for a couple of months to teach modules at our Ethnos Canada Missions training center. Stephen is teaching a module on cross-cultural Bible lesson development. Carolyn is teaching on literacy.

Pray for good interactions with the students and opportunities to challenge and encourage them as they pursue their calling in missions.

Pray for continued open doors in Asia-Pacific. Immigration paperwork has become more strict and complicated—and there is still much work to do. Pray for wisdom going into the new year, both for a translation workshop we’re a part of hosting for Bible translators in the Asia-Pacific region, and for continued translation checking for 16 translation projects.

Akron Internationals Outreach: David John, Volunteer Leader

Pray for insight for the volunteers and students as we discuss "The Parables of Jesus" with our international students. Pray that incoming students will adjust well and be part of the community in the long run.

Week 1

India Outreach: Doug Lauer, Volunteer Country Director

Please pray for our sponsored pastors, their families and churches in northwest India who are facing increased levels of persecution. Praise God that the financial obligations of these pastors are still regularly met by our most generous church congregation to provide them with basic food security every month. Pray for protection from the fundamentalists.

Please pray that our workers will be blessed with wisdom and discernment to work and minister to their flocks carefully and with vigilance.

Please pray for Sunderlal and his two younger brothers who are now in prison following false criminal charges. Pray that his church will remain strong in his absence. Pray that truth will prevail so they can be released from prison soon.

Please pray for James, a school leader, who was viciously attacked and suffered a brain injury. Pray he will heal quickly with no cognitive impairment and that funds will be found to cover all his hospital expenses.

Pray for the staff, the school children and their families from the six schools we helped start in India. Pray for the school The Chapel helped start in 2005 that is currently suspended for lack of consistent funding, that funds will be found to reopen and sustain this school that has had a significant impact on very poor children for many years.

Nancy Ware: Missionary to North Akron

Ask God to work in the hearts and lives of the five new-to-America families. Pray that God would use our afterschool homework help time and Bible studies to draw refugee children and parents to Himself. Thank God for the volunteers who are helping us.

Week 2

Cambodia Outreach: Kathi Ferris, Volunteer Country Director

Please pray for two recently departed children we have supported at Asia’s Hope. The father of Sovannreach, age 15, recently came back into his life and expressed his desire to have his children live with him. Gratefully, his father is well-equipped to care for them. Mara, age 16, had very little interest in his studies and left Asia’s Hope to pursue a trade within the culinary community.

Please pray these young men will find direction and discover opportunities in areas where they will have success. A newly rescued child, Liza Lian, age 10, has been placed in our BB11 home. He had been living with an aunt from the time he was an infant. His parents left him and are no longer involved in his life. The aunt works in the rice fields and does not make enough to support the two of them. Liza also has missed much schooling, as he would help his aunt in the rice fields. Please help us pray for Liza’s transition to his new home, that he will sense he is greatly cared about, sees God’s hand on his life and thrives in every way in his new home.

Emmanuel Christian Academy — Local Partner

Pray for our teachers and staff- that the influence of the Holy Spirit be present in their personalities, proficient in their curriculum, and rightly divide the Word of Truth they impart to every child they encounter this school year. As we enter into the school year, pray that the children who need Emmanuel will enroll. Ask God to prepare their hearts to learn, to be respectful, and to grow in their knowledge of Him. Continue to pray for the safety and protection of all Emmanuel students, families, and staff—both on and off campus.

Ask God to meet the spiritual, physical, and financial needs of our students, families, and staff. Pray that we all live with conviction to please God daily. We pray for the salvation of every student, family member, and staff member who has not yet accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Above all, pray that God’s presence continues to be powerfully manifested in every classroom, hallway, and heart at Emmanuel Christian Academy.

Week 3

Akron Pregnancy Services — Local Partner

Prayers as we open the Cuyahoga Falls location on Saturday mornings. This is the most active day at the abortion facility that is two doors down from us. Prayers that the moms will come to us and make a choice for life, instead of death from an abortion.

Praise for the many people, churches and organizations who do such wonderful work for us. Their generosity enables us to do what we do. Prayers for wisdom and guidance for the many decisions that go along with running a ministry. May God be glorified in all we do.

Prayers for us to continue to be able to communicate to those that come in with language barriers, that we are able to share the love of Christ, even if not with our words.

Prayers for protection of the staff and volunteers as they continue to stand on the front line of life and death choices for the clients and patients we serve.

Burnham Ministry International - Global Partner

As we began BMI, one of the very first meetings we ever held was in Darjeeling, India, where we brought together a very special group of pastors from Nepal. They would ride in buses to cross the border of Nepal into India. While we were there, it was extremely important to us to spend time encouraging and training these very special servants of the Lord, who all had been suffering greatly for their service to Christ. At this first conference at which both David and Jonathan taught, Jonathan began to develop a friendship with a dynamic young Nepalese leader named Sonam Kabo. 10 years later, BMI entered into a ministry partnership with Sonam and his wife, Rita. They have become some of the most well respected and effective Christian leaders in the Nepali world.

Please pray for Sonam and Rita as they continue to partner with BMI to share the gospel and build leadership in this very special country.

Urban Ministries: Lisa Marshall, Director of Urban Ministry

Please pray for Fall programming as Moms Klub and Good News Club begin. Pray for hearts to receive Christ and for spiritual growth in all the activities. Pray also for the ministry tour taking place on September 13. Pray for many to attend and to get involved with our ministry partners in Akron.
