Outreach Prayer Guide

The truth is all those who believe and trust in Jesus have been sent by God to be ambassadors for God’s Kingdom (John 20:21 & 2 Corinthians 5:20). Some of us are simply sent further to different countries of the world and need supporters to help fulfill the call from God to be a minister of the Gospel of Christ into the world. Please join us in supporting our Local and Global Outreach ministries and missionaries through prayer.

May 2024

Stephen and Carolyn serving in SE Asia - Please pray for Stephen who is currently doing a translation check on the Turu language group here in Papua.

Praise: we had a good time with the Moi last month. Good conversations about how the Bible dedication went. The Moi church finally started taking seriously the need to give our tithes and offerings to the Lord. Stephen spent time with the church leaders explaining accountability and how the offering is to be used.

We sure appreciate your prayers as we start on a two-month trek around Indonesia, helping different language groups with their Bible translation projects and literacy needs. Pray for the Moi church as they learn to stand on their own and navigate things like false teaching that comes their way from the outside world. Pray for our daughters and their families in ministry.

Cambodia Outreach (Kathi Ferris, Volunteer Country Director) – Please pray for Sreyniath, 17 years old, from our BB11 home. She had been very sad and struggling after her older sister Sreynich became engaged and left Asia’s Hope to live with her grandmother. Sreyniath’s sister encouraged her to come live with them, to work in the garment factory and earn money to help provide for their family. Sreyniath did not want to continue her studies, and decided to go live with her sister to work. Please pray God’s best for these girls. Praise God, they spent several years in the BB11 home where they were loved and were able to go to school. They also know the good news of Jesus, who will continue to be with them.

Week 1

Pastor B. serving in Mozambique - Pray for the church to grow, especially in numbers and evangelism to reach more souls for Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit gives strength to the groups visiting hospitals and jails to preach the gospel. Pray God gives us a project to sustain the church. Pray for the provision of the water at M. and M. and for implementation of a church at M. and T.

Pray for the ladies and children's groups’ Bible studies that Mama L. and Mama A. are leading at M., M. and C. Pray that God raises the leaders according to his will and heart at churches to do the work of God. Pray that God gives more power and wisdom to train leaders and vision to lead us. Pray for people of the church that we are sending to Bible school and for provision to sustain their studies until they finish. Pray for the worship team.

Mozambique Outreach (Michael Boso, Volunteer Country Director) - Thanks for The Chapel sending me to Mozambique to do the work of ministry. Pray for my wife as she travels, for good health and fitness for us both. Pray for strength and wisdom to lead the various teams as they arrive and depart. Pray for the administrative and strategic movements that need to take place. Pray for me as I preach the gospel in FEA churches this year and travel in the country.

India Outreach (Doug Lauer, Volunteer Country Director) – Please pray for all our sponsored pastors, their families and churches in northwest India who are facing increased levels of persecution. Praise God that the financial obligations to the pastors there are regularly being met by our church to provide them with basic food security. Pray that each of these churches will find ways to have church, prayer and Bible studies every week, despite these real pressures to eliminate normal church practices. Please pray for the staff and students in the six schools we have helped to start there. The students and staff are now on their summer holiday. Please pray for new positive connections with the new government in the state so that the churches can continue to meet. As the election season in India continues, please pray for peace in the country. After relative calm for several years, there was a bombing in the city of Bangalore recently related to political party disputes. Pray for a safe and fair election process and for the election of a friendly national government in the next three months. Pray for safety and an end to the persecution of minorities by radical nationalists.

Week 2

Pastor M. serving in Mozambique - We always thank God for what He is doing through our partnership, friendship and brotherhood in Christ. Please pray for us. The storms have completely ruined the sanctuary at B. church; we need to rebuild it, please pray for funds!

At B. again, we are aiming to revive the church there through a soul-winning campaign: a Crusade! Pray for evangelism at T3 Church. Pray for the 5-dimensional growth of the church: spiritual; social; geographical; numerical; and economic. We are aiming to start a new church at a location called M., by God's grace and will.

For family: Please pray for my wife's health (she has been struggling with pain in her veins that the doctors cannot identify the cause and also having heartburn). Pray for wisdom, for strength and for financial stability. Thank you for standing by and supporting us in prayers. May God bless you!

Vietnam (Pastor M. Dang) - I am sharing in the joy to the Lord! Praising Jesus Christ for those who are followers of Him now and pray they grow in the grace and knowledge of Him! Praise the Lord for the enormous amount of 60,000 Gospel tracks for the Easter Outreach. Praying too that the building permits in Vietnam are received much sooner. Asking all in Jesus Christ name. Amen.

Akron International Outreach (David John, Volunteer AI leader) – Pray for God's Spirit to move freely in the hearts and minds of our students to stir them up towards Him. Pray for the students who are seeking answers and are "secretly" investigating.

Week 3

Men's 35+ Pickup Basketball  -  The Men's 35+ basketball is made of believers and unbelievers. For some this time might be the only time they come to a church. Our prayer is to develop a sincere friendship with them and seek an opportunity to communicate the good news of Jesus Christ. Through a devotional time and conversations, we trust that God could begin a good work in some of these men. Please pray for God to work in the hearts and minds of the unbelievers and for the believers to live out their faith. Also, pray for wisdom and a humble heart for those of us leading the ministry. The summer season starts June 11-July 16, 2024 on Tuesday’s from 6:45-8:15pm in the Gym.

Nancy Ware (Missionary serving with WorldVenture in Refugee outreach in North Akron) – Ask God to work in Mu and Par's hearts so they are drawn to him. Pray for the summer school to go smoothly. Praise that Bu received a kidney transplant. Ask God to provide more drivers on Sunday’s to bring the children to Church.

Urban Ministries (Lisa Marshall, Director) – Pray for the four moms and one dad who are coming to church on Sundays this semester. Pray they would get connected to a small group. Pray also for upcoming local outreach this summer including Harvest Home, Akron Pregnancy Services, Emmanuel Christian Academy, Refugee summer school and Hope Sports Camp. Pray for opportunities to share the gospel, to disciple and to build relationships with women and children this summer.
