Outreach Prayer Guide
Pray with us for our Outreach Ministries, second Sunday, after 2nd service, 12:10-1pm, Room 158.
All those who believe and trust in Jesus have been sent by God to be ambassadors for God’s Kingdom (John 20:21 & 2 Corinthians 5:20). Some of us are simply sent further to different countries of the world and need supporters to help fulfill the call from God to be a minister of the Gospel of Christ into the world. Please join us in supporting our Local and Global Outreach ministries and missionaries through prayer.
April 2025
Nate & Danielle Chaney — Missionaries in Albania
Pray for the people who have received Bibles:
Kristiano (17) and his sister, Niki (20)—he works at the local fruit stand; Deborah (13)—she was selling bracelets she made where one day Danielle was meeting someone for coffee; Hussein (85), Zura (74), and Jenni (39)—from the mountain village detour; Yurri—a deaf man who was passing out Albanian pins to people sitting at a local restaurant in exchange for a little money; Anyone else who will receive a Bible from us.
Pray God would bless our language study and give us perseverance.
Pray for our time with the Roma Gypsy children each Wednesday morning. (Names: Orgito, Cheppi, Alexi, Omari, Ousman, Seldi [boys]; Sayda, Melissa, Aleafi, Angela, Meydina [girls].) They are all five or six years old.
Cambodia Outreach (Kathi Ferris, Volunteer Country Director)
Praise God! Asia’s Hope has rescued another child and placed him in our BB11 home. Liza Lian is 10 years old and came to BB11 at the end of February. He had been living with an aunt from the time he was an infant. His parents left him to live with the aunt and are no longer involved in his life. The aunt works in the rice fields and does not make enough to support the two of them. Liza also has missed much schooling, as he would intermittently help his aunt in the fields. Please pray for Liza’s transition to his new home, that he will sense he is greatly cared about, see God’s hand on his life and thrive in every way in his new home.
Week 1
Haven of Rest — Local Partner
Alumni gather every Tuesday evening for Bible study. Pray for the men to continue to grow in their relationship with Christ through Christian fellowship, the reading of God’s word and through prayer time. Pray the resident men will continue to lean on God while preparing their resumes, participating in mock interviews and beginning their job searches. May each one be successful through Christ.
Akron Internationals Outreach (David John, Volunteer Akron Internationals Leader)
Pray for guidance for our international students as they are struggling with major changes at The University of Akron. Pray for wisdom for our volunteer team as we minister to them during these difficult times. May we not hesitate to pray with them and encourage them.
Week 2
Men’s 35+ Basketball — Local Outreach of The Chapel
We have a few new guys attending. Pray that they’ll be open to the gospel. (Two are my neighbors, a third might start coming as well.)
There is a young guy M, who is very attentive to the devotional. Pray that I might be able to have a one-on-one conversation with him.
Also, pray for P, one of the players. He might consider visiting the church.
Mozambique Outreach (Michael Boso, Volunteer Country Director)
Gaza Works: There have been many challenges since the election results of our political leaders. These challenges include importing supplies from South Africa and general travel through the city. We also have faced summer flooding in our fields. The runoff rain has brought excessive water down the Lampopo river to our fields.
Pastor B: We have sent six youths to Bible school for three months, and two youths to Bible college in South Africa. Pray for their success. We hope to equip these students for ministry in the church. We also have two former students who have completed studies in raising chickens. They have begun micro businesses. Pray for their success.
Pastor M: The FEA Church is undergoing the required leadership change as we elect a new country bishop. Please pray the right man is found for this office. Pray for my son who is studying for his college courses. He is on a scholarship and must maintain his grade average.
India Outreach (Doug Lauer, Volunteer Country Director)
Persecution: The Hindu nationalist BJP party has won the majority in the Delhi assembly again after 27 years. This is a significant shift in political influence for the BJP and could mean increased persecution and discrimination against Christians and other minorities. Please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in India who are worshiping and working in extremely dangerous circumstances. Pray for their continued strength and comfort.
Education: The students in our schools take important year-end cumulative exams in the month of March. The culture pressures children to perform well, even though the teachers in the school’s care for the whole child and encourage them in multiple ways, please pray that the children would recall everything they studied and not only perform well on these exams but would also be relieved from the intense pressure they face.
Healthcare: Praise the Lord that the Healthcare Initiative continues to grow and expand into more and more villages, towns, and cities in every state of India. Pray that through nutrition, exercise and regular checkups the poor and oppressed people of India would, in the name of Jesus, finally experience physical health and true human flourishing.
Week 3
Pastor M. Dang (Serving in the USA and Vietnam)
Please pray for Pastor Minh Dang's Mission trip to Vietnam at the end of April. Please pray for a safe trip, good health for the team and please pray that the trip will bring encouragement to the pastors and Christians in Vietnam. There will be many meetings with the local believers in many regions in Vietnam.
Please also pray for the Chanh Lo Church in Quang-Ngai, after two years of struggling construction of the new church building, the Lord has provided them enough funds to finish the construction, and the church will be dedicated on May 6 of this year. Pastor Minh Dang will attend the dedication. This is a prominent church in the large city. Please pray for the dedication service and for the pastor and the church leaders of Chanh Lo Church as they are planning to start many new daughter churches in many nearby regions.
Also please pray for the 11 Vietnamese believers of the Akron Vietnamese church who will be baptized at The Chapel on Sunday, April 13 and April 20. Please pray these new believers will grow strong in their faith and be faithful to the Lord.
Pastor Mihn Dang will be leaving for Vietnam so please pray for a safe trip for me and my team. After returning from this trip at the end of the first week of April, I will be leaving again with another team the last week of April. Thank you and The Chapel for prayers and support.
Nancy Ware (Missionary serving with WorldVenture in refugee outreach in North Akron)
A new family that arrived in January is struggling. Pray for 10-year-old "Stephen” as he learns English. Ask God to provide us with lots of teachers for summer school. Ask God to continue to draw Mu, Par, Tab and Moocho to Himself.
Urban Ministries (Lisa Marshall, Director of Urban Ministry)
Please continue to pray for the Good News Clubs at Leggett, Glover and McElbright. Pray especially for the McElbright class as it is a large group and there have been a lot of behavior issues within the group.
Pray also for the ending of Moms Klub for the semester, that there would be opportunities for outside discipleship opportunities.
