local outreach

We want to share the love of Jesus with our inner-city neighbors in multiple ways. Our Urban ministry brings food donations, tutoring and enrichment programs to elementary students at three nearby schools that reaches families in the community. Our Internationals ministry offers English classes (ESL), Friday night dinners and other hospitality outreaches to international students attending The University of Akron and working in the area. Our refugee ministry serves immigrant families who find their way to Akron from around the world. We open our gym for outreach-oriented sports leagues and partner with a handful of other local ministries – all with the goal of glorifying Christ and making His name known, right where we live.

Chapel Urban Outreach

  • Outreach Ministry – We partner with three Akron public schools, right in our back yard, bringing programs like tutoring, Good News Clubs, holiday outreaches and Coats & Backpacks for Kids to students and their families.
  • Food Ministry – We provide food for students whose families are struggling financially. You can help by picking up a bright yellow bag on the third Sunday of the month. Inside each bag is a list of most-needed food items. Please provide what you can and bring your filled bag back on the following Sunday.
