Middle School Ministry
Sunday Mornings at 9:00am
On Sunday mornings, we gather for a time of teaching and small groups. Our teaching revolves around a three-year scope and sequence that seeks to help students root and build their identity and purpose in Jesus Christ. Our Small Groups are divided by grade and gender and typically have 10-14 students paired with at least two carefully selected adult Small Group Leaders. Small Groups exist to create a safe place for students to process the large group teaching and talk through what it looks like to be transformed by God.
Wednesday Nights 6:30-8:00pm (Sept - Apr)
Our midweek programming exists to see our students Becoming Disciples and Building God’s Kingdom. To accomplish this, our programming follows a unique monthly rhythm:
- 1st Wednesday of every month, our students serve and lead a Bible study for children at Haven of Rest Ministries in downtown Akron.
- 2nd Wednesday of every month, we begin the evening with a fun, large group activity, followed by contemporary live worship and teaching.
- 3rd Wednesday of every month, our students serve ministries inside The Chapel’s walls.
- 4th Wednesday of every month, we give students the opportunity to hang out, laugh, and enjoy community with each other.
We believe the combination of service, fun, and spiritual growth creates a great opportunity to strengthen our relationships with God and each other.
Throughout the year we host several different events. Each of these events have their own purpose, but they all exist to create environments where students can discover that their identity and purpose can only be found in God.
An action-packed weekend retreat designed to build and deepen relationships within our small group communities. We dig into God's word together and have plenty of fun in the process. This weekend sets the tone for our year and brings all of our students back feeling like family.
An all-night event created as an exciting and engaging way for our students to introduce their friends to our ministry. Our goal is to create an environment where students can see who God is, feel like they belong, and have a ton of fun in the process!
A day-long event that happens once a month in June, July, and August. Each time students will learn about and serve several local ministries to see how God is moving in our own city.
(A student experiences them once during our ministry)
Summer Outreach Trip
Every other year, our seventh and eighth graders have the option of joining us on our out of state outreach trip. The purpose of this trip is to introduce students to outreach by taking them out of their comfort zone and opening their eyes to how God is moving in other places.
Summer Discipleship Conference
Every other year, our seventh and eighth graders have the option of attending a discipleship conference. We will travel to a multi-day conference designed to spiritually challenge our student’s view of who God is and how we relate to Him.
Exists as a primer on both The Chapel and the Christian life and is required for anyone desiring baptism or membership. The Family BEGIN class specifically is geared for parents to walk with their child through this process.
