Life on earth is a journey of ups and downs. There are seasons of great joy and seasons of despair. Our Care Department has established counseling and support ministries to help you through them, encouraging you to grow closer to Jesus along the way. Our ministries include:

Marriage Counseling

Prepare – Pre/Re Marital Counseling
The importance of preparing for your marriage cannot be overstated. Therefore, pre-marriage counseling is a requirement.

Enrich – Marriage Mentoring
If you’re currently married, consider partnering with a mentor couple, going on a marriage retreat or joining an Adult Bible study together.

Restore – Marital Counseling
The Chapel understands that re-marriages have their own distinct challenges, and we want to support you throughout the early years of your re-marriage. Therefore, couples who are considering re-marriage through The Chapel will be required to attend training.

For more information on any aspect of the marriage counseling that we offer, please call 330.315.5530 or visit our marriage page.

A discipleship ministry of The Chapel

Example: In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus gave us the command to make disciples. A disciple is simply a learner and follower of Christ. Biblical Counseling at The Chapel is a ministry in which the Bible is used to counsel people in order that they may become more committed followers, or disciples, of Christ. All Lay Biblical Counselors are under supervision of the church leaders. This counseling ministry is neither a business nor a profit-oriented activity. Each counselor serves without any charge or fee. They provide their time and energy as a service to God.

The range of problems with which we deal is very wide. It includes broken marriages, parent-child relationships, depression, alcohol and drug abuse, tension, turmoil, anxiety, fear, worry, and any number of other problems resulting in mental and physical immobility.

For Chapel members going through trials of sin and suffering, The Chapel offers individual counseling with a trained biblical counselor. We want to come alongside you in these seasons so that you can:

  • Find strength for each day – understand how to rest in God’s peace during troubles.
  • Overcome struggles with sin – uncover God’s truth with your counselor.
  • Be conformed to Christ’s image – see how God transforms us through our difficulties.

Support Groups

Our support groups are designed to “encourage one another and build one another up” just as God’s Word encourages us to do. (1 Thessalonians 5:11) We offer the following groups:

Divorce Recovery
The Rebuilders is a divorce support group that meets each Thursday at 7:00pm in Room 155 at the Akron Campus, whenever the Divorce Recovery Workshop is not meeting. Guest speakers discuss helpful topics. Small groups provide support and discussion time.

New Beginnings is an Adult Bible Fellowship for those who are considering re-marriage or are part of a blended family. The goal is to build godly individuals and, therefore, godly families. The group meets on Sundays at 10:40am in the Berean Room at the Akron Campus.

For information on the Rebuilders, call 330.315.5530.
For information on New Beginnings, call 330.315.5511.

GriefShare
This group provides help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. You are welcome to begin attending our GriefShare group at any point. For more information, call 330.315.5530 or visit our grief care page.

Widows/Widowers
The loss of a spouse can bring about changes in how we interact with our community. The Chapel’s Widows/Widowers Ministry is designed to provide care, comfort and community to those who have lost their spouse. For more information, please call 330.315.5530.
